Check Me Into The Collingwood Psychiatric Hospital: September Writing Update

If you get the reference in the title, then you know exactly which upcoming event I’m most excited for. If not… Well, checking me in to a haunted mental institution wouldn’t actually be a bad idea at this point.

Between convention after convention, planning for another busy October, and prepping for my Modern Hauntings Halloween Party, I’ve had a lot of medical stuff to deal with. By the end of this month, I will have had 4 different kinds of doctors appointments, and I have 2 more booked for October. Oh, and I’m waiting on another referral, so who knows when that appointment will be. All of this is the continuation of the mystery pain I’ve been dealing with since the end of April.

So, yes, you would be correct in assuming that not a whole lot of writing or editing is going on right now. I’m doing my best with what I’ve got. But what I’ve got isn’t a lot – I’m pretty low on spoons right now. That being said, I’m not letting this medical chaos hold me back too much. And I’ve had continual support from friends, family, readers, and community.

Now with the depressing stuff out of the way, it’s time to talk about the party!

I’ve started teasing the artists at vendors at the Halloween Party mini market (there’s still 2 left to announce so stay tuned!) so I hope you’re as excited as I am. Although the space is snug, I’m filling the available space to the brim with local talent. These are all artists and vendors whose work I admire, so I know for a fact that the mini market is going to be a spectacular start to the event.

And then, after exhausting few weeks I’ve had, I can’t wait to curl up in the dark with a big bag of popcorn and watch my favourite found footage film: Grave Encounters (2011).

So, if you want to make me feel better – or start off the spooky season with a bang – come to Bytowne Cinema on October 2nd for my belated book launch / Halloween party.

With my shameless self-promotion and minimal writing update out of the way, I’m going to vanish into the darkness as I prepare for my next round of medical tests.

See you on the 2nd! Stay Spooky!
