A Date With Adorable

Looking for a fun date night in Ottawa?  Feline Cafe has it all!  Date nights are offered once a month and registration is available online.  For $35 a couple you can enjoy a wonderful date night that also supports a good cause: each couple can enjoy two beverages, two desserts, and an hour in the cat lounge!  And even better, proceeds from the date night go towards Furry Tales Cat Rescue.

It is recommended that you show up early to claim your drinks and treats before your reservation in the cat lounge begins.  My boyfriend and I ordered two delicious lattes – a coconut London fog, and a creme egg latte that is on the menu for Easter.  For dessert, we could choose from 4 possible treats and we picked a brownie and a cupcake.  The brownie was rich a chocolaty, but the cupcake was much milder and I couldn’t quite figure out what the exact flavours were.  Honestly though, I wasn’t thinking about the food all that much.  I was too busy staring enviously into the cat lounge, waiting for the previous group of couples to be finished with their reservation.

There are two possible time slots for date night, and each time slot allows four couples at a time.  And since these reservation times are after the cafe closes, it is a much more intimate and relaxed experience in the cat lounge as there are no other customers there waiting for their turn with the cats.  The lounge was also set up to give off more of a date night vibe; apart from the usual fixtures in the lounge and the artwork for sale by local artists (including a personal favourite of mine, Shameless Envy), there were artificial candles set up to add a little mood lighting.

Last night there were 14 cats in the lounge and I could have easily adopted every single one of them.  During our hour in the lounge, all four couples got the chance to play with and cuddle some adorable cats and kittens.  This is a wonderful way to help these cats find forever homes as this private time in the lounge allows you the chance to really get to know the various cats that are available.  And given the fact that there was a sign up in the cafe informing visitors that there have been approximately 132 successful adoptions at this cafe, I’d say these kinds of visits work.  If anyone is looking to adopt a cat, I would highly recommend visiting Feline Cafe to find your fur baby.
