It’s finally my slow season, and that mean’s more time to write! I may have less to do outside of my home office, but I am getting A LOT of work done at my desk.
Most importantly, I’ve finally finished draft 1 of Skull Daddy: Mother / Father! When I started writing it, not only was I in the midst of my busy season, but I was also busy navigating all of my new health problems. Not exactly the best kind of situation when you’re trying to meet writing goals. All of the extra doctors appointments, sick days, and an emergency room visit meant that I fell severely behind in my goals. But now, it’s done.
For now.
After I let this draft rest, it’s time to edit. And I will definitely need to edit. Since I was writing a sequel (that also works as a stand alone) I prepared an outline to guide my writing. The problem is, thanks to my writing style, I went off the rails and didn’t exactly follow the original outline. Although this means a better story – because it grew the more I spent time in that world – it also means that the earlier chapters might not match the later chapters. This is why those self-editing phases are so important. Character motivations underwent such a transformation that I will need to make extensive continuity edits.
But that’s later, when I can come back to the draft with fresh eyes.
Until then, I’ll be continuing the final edits of GOATS. That’s another project that got derailed by health problems, but so far I might just be able to get it published by the end of January 2026 like I planned. Of course, more details are coming in December, so keep an eye out for updates, reveals, and maybe even FREEBIES!
Stay Spooky!
